Bass Dawg Jonas has played a wide variety of musical styles since graduating from The Berklee College of Music’s Instrumental Performance program in the late 70’s. During the 80’s, he played with Ron Orlando’s band Nightflyer, a rock band that was part of the thriving Asbury Park scene. He also played with accomplished jazz pianist Laurie Altman, whose compositions challenged musicians with meter changes and innovative harmonic variations.
Later, a stint with a traveling show group took Jonas to various gigs in the Atlantic City casinos, Aruba, and several venues in Florida. He now earns his keep as an editor with NFL Films, where his musical training still helps him cut features for the NFL Network’s flagship show “Total Access”, as well as numerous other commercial and broadcast projects.
Jonas is thrilled to be gigging again with The Ramblin’ Dawgs. The hard driving rock and blues sound of the band is a perfect fit for Jonas’ love of energetic music built on a solid groove. “In the pocket” is where he loves to be, and from the time he and drummer Raul played their first tunes together with the band, it was apparent that they had a connection that would help form a strong rhythmic foundation and complete the Ramblin Dawg's lineup perfectly.
